New Regulations on Electricity Market Activities for Organized Industrial Zones and Industrial Zones

The "Regulation on the Electricity Market Activities of Organized Industrial Zones and Industrial Zones," prepared by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), has been published in the Official Gazette dated July 25, 2024, issue number 32612, and has come into effect.

This regulation establishes the procedures and principles related to the electricity market activities of organized industrial zones (OIZ) and industrial zones (IZ). Within this framework, OIZs and IZs can obtain licenses for electricity production and distribution, enabling them to supply electricity to participants and investors.

Key aspects of the regulation include:

License Applications: OIZs and IZs are required to obtain licenses from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) to engage in electricity production and distribution activities.

Connection and System Usage: The processes related to the connection to the electrical distribution system and system usage for OIZs and IZs are detailed.

Fees and Charges: Various charges, such as electricity cost, distribution fee, available capacity fee, and connection fee, are specified and will be applied to participants or investors.

Technical Quality and Data Sharing: Provisions are made for determining the technical quality of electricity, data sharing, and technical quality measurements.

Rights of Free Consumers: Provisions are outlined for the rights of participants and investors to act as free consumers and to obtain electricity from other suppliers.
